The Sharks head to the University of Worcester looking to bounce back from their first defeat of 2014 last week as they take on the side currently inhabiting third spot.

And Sing is in no doubt about the importance of the clash. “Friday’s game is crucial in fighting for third place and gaining the head-to-head over the Wolves,” he said.

“It would be great to gain a solid third rank in the league coming towards the latter part of the season, and give us that mental edge, in time for the play-offs.”

After winning ten straight since the start of 2016, the Sharks eventually lost last Friday 90-84 against London Lions. Poor execution down the stretch cost the team as they were unable to erase a four point deficit with 1:35 left.

Coach Atiba Lyons is just one win away from 200 as a coach in the BBL. He was also awarded with coach of the month for January. His team have won and lost against Worcester already this season recently beating them 85-75 on January 15.

Worcester have won their last three league games beating Surrey Scorchers, Manchester Giants and even topping league leaders Newcastle Eagles.

They have announced the departure of point guard Josh Cameron who averaged nearly 10 points a game this season. Duo Perris Blackman and Pavol Losonsky will look to continue their fine form this season and punish Sheffield’s forwards.

Sheffield are also preparing for the first leg of their BBL Cup semi-final clash against Leicester Riders on Sunday.

The tough run of fixtures will place pressure on Sheffield’s squad as players such as Kyle Odister, Patrick Horstmann and Sing are expected to make big contributions.

Brandon Hogg has proved to be an unknown factor for the team this season after his break out performance in the capital last Friday.
