Sheffield Sharks guard Kyle Odister believes their weekend off will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.

After a blank weekend, the Sharks head to Plymouth Raiders tonight with the opportunity to move third in the BBL.

And Odister says the rest will have done the Sharks good, particularly for the test of a physical Plymouth outfit.

“Last weekend was a good break for our team to rest up, after a two-and-a-half week span of straight games,” Odister said. “We lost in the semi-final in a tough battle against the trophy winners and played some of the top teams in the league during that span.

“Heading into the end of the season, we are fine tuning and gearing up to make a promising play-off push.

“Plymouth are a team that have some good offensive weapons.

“For us to be successful it will be key for our team to lock in on defence and match their physicality.”

The Sharks will hope their recent trend against the Raiders will continue as they head to Plymouth Pavilions.

Sheffield have only failed to win once in their last 12 meetings and have already beaten Plymouth twice this season.

It promises to be a high-scoring affair with the game set to feature the division’s top three individual scorers: Daryl Corletto, Corley Dixon and Sheffield’s Jerrold Brooks.

Plymouth are currently eighth and fighting to hold onto a play-off spot.

Raiders player-coach Daryl Corletto said: “We know they have a good point guard in Brooks.

“They also have one of the best forwards in the BBL in Mike Tuck.

“We need to limit these two and also Antone Robinson, who comes off the bench with great energy.”

Tuck recorded 28 points and nine rebounds in the Sharks’ 99-73 win over Plymouth in the BBL Trophy.
