Sheffield Sharks ready to dig deep against London Lions

Hard work will be the key for the DBL Sharks Sheffield as they look to return to winning ways at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield tonight, says head coach Atiba Lyons.

The Sharks face the London Lions for the first time this season hoping to bounce back from a 78-61 defeat on the road against Glasgow Rocks last weekend, and Lyons says his side will be digging deep to make things click.

“I feel like we played well enough defensively to win the game against Glasgow. They scored only 78 points,” said Lyons.

“But offensively we hit a dry spell against a good team in the third quarter.”

Defensive organisation will again be important against an all-conquering London side, but Lyons is keen to talk up his team’s chances.

“Defensively, it was a bit better. We were a bit more switched on. We fought our way through and effort plays fixed up some of the mistakes we made,” he said.

“In the past, we would have had big breakdowns, but this time we kept playing until we got it right.”

The Sharks’ latest signing, Malcom Riley made his debut last week.

“I think he can add a lot to us,” Lyons said. “He shoots the ball really well, so we have to make sure he just gets going and gets comfortable.”
