Sheffield Sharks: Lyons' men look to down leaders again

Leicester, who have home advantage, have lost only three times this season, but one of those defeats came in Sheffield when the Sharks became the first team to lower their colours.

Coach Atiba Lyons and his Sharks team have regained momentum entering the final four games of the regular season, having won four of their last six matches.

In their last outing, the Sharks saw off Glasgow Rocks and forward Patrick Horstmann said: “It was great for us to be able to return with a victory against a really good Glasgow side.”

Kyle Odister shot three from six attempts from beyond the arc against Glasgow, totalling 19 points in the contest.

When asked about his team’s three-point shooting, Lyons said: “It isn’t just necessarily the additional points that help us. It gives players confidence and also helps us to spread the floor and get other guys involved.”

Sheffield and Leicester will be playing back-to-back games this weekend. Leicester will visit Leeds Force on Friday before finishing at home to Sheffield. The Sharks travel to face Manchester Giants on Sunday.

Horstmann said: “Leicester are a great team with great players and a great coach. They are top of the league for a reason and every game against them is a tough and close one.”

Leicester are coming off a 92-68 win against Plymouth. They held a good three-point shooting team to just four made attempts from 24 shots.

Sheffield will have to be defensively strong as Tyler Bernardini, Andrew Sullivan and Shane Walker all average double figures for Leicester this season.
