The last two seasons saw them lose to eventual winners Newcastle Eagles, but the Tynesiders fell this season in the quarter-finals to Cheshire Phoenix, which could leave the door open for Sharks to finally reach a grand final.

This year they face a determined Glasgow Rocks side who finished the season in fifth place and eased their way past Worcester Wolves in the quarters.

Both teams finished the regular season in stellar form, which continued into last weekend’s quarter finals, however the last time the sides faced each other, Sharks came out with a 83-68 away win.

Sharks will be looking to build on their impressive display against London Lions, this weekend, with good performances from captain Mike Tuck, Antone Robinson and Jerrold Brooks, who all made it on to the bench of the all star five for last weekend’s matches. Brooks in particular put on a more than impressive display, in the first leg against Lions putting up 31 points and six rebounds.

However the Glaswegians will not be easy opposition; they are aiming to reach a third final in as many seasons.

Rocks are on a good run of form coming into this semi final, winning three of their last four matches.

Also their key man Kieron Achara was credited in the Molten BBL All-Defensive Team of the Year, being the only player of the five to not play for champions Leicester Riders.

The BBL Play-Off Final has not featured Glasgow Rocks or Sheffield Sharks since 2011, but that is destined to change this weekend, with the first leg of the semi final being played on Friday 29 April at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, with tip off at 7:30pm.
