Sheffield Sharks forward back after a year of injury hell

Following a traumatic season of injuries, Colin Sing is looking to make up for lost time with the DBL Sharks Sheffield during the forthcoming BBL campaign.

Despite a great start last year, Sing was diagnosed with a serious shoulder wound and a broken finger, which led to two rounds of surgery.

The 6ft 7in forward retired to the bench for the rest of the year, which culminated in a Play Off victory for Sharks.

With a new season comes a fully rejuvenated version of Sing, who has spent his summer rehabilitating and training with team mates at the EIS in Sheffield.

“We are relieved to get Colin back” said Sharks’ head coach, Atiba Lyons. “It could have been touch and go, but we are lucky to have the best surgeons in Sheffield from the One Health Group on the case and they have basically re-built me a forward.”

Sing, who arrived from Essex Pirates in 2011, was averaging 12 pts per game before he was forced to sit out and the player has enjoyed catching up and practising with his team mates throughout the summer break.

“I am excited to be back,” he stated. “It was really hard to sit and watch the guys playing and not be able to contribute, particularly as I was having a good year until December. Since I have been given the go ahead to train at full pace, it’s been fun and we have made some positive additions to the team who I’m looking forward to working with. It’s an exciting year ahead and I will be back to full fitness, so it’s all to play for”.

Sharks are confident that their team is coming together nicely.

“We are happy with how things are shaping up,” confirmed Coach Lyons

“We have some really good guys who we know will deliver on and off the court, so having Colin back is another boost for us.”
