Sheffield Sharks bring back fan favourite Zach

DBL Sharks are hoping their fans will once again get behind former fan favourite Zach Gachette, who has returned to the Sheffield fold for the coming season.

Following a four year stint including the completion of his degree at Sheffield Hallam University, Gachette left the steel city to join the capital franchise, the London Lions who play out of the Olympic Copper Box in the 2016 season.

The return of the prodigal son - who plans to become a full-time teacher - will see Gachette don the Blue and Gold shirt for the 2017 season and re-join some of his old team mates as well as some new faces in the latest look Sharks.

Gachette averaged five points and three rebounds in his last spell for the Sharks.

“We are happy to welcome back Zach to the team this season it has certainly been quiet without him” said coach Atiba Lyons.

“In all seriousness there was an opportunity for us to utilise Zach’s athletic abilities and I think he will really fit with this team even more so than his last period with the Sharks”.

The Sharks continue to build their roster and are still looking to add further pieces

“Zach is a great personality and I think that he has matured over the last season with a different style of play it will be a great to see him alongside our other signings this year”.

Gachette. a six-feet four-inches tall guard, who also spent the year completing his teaching certificate, has now established a focus on basketball before taking up his career as a full time teacher.

“I am genuinely excited to be back in Sheffield, I have so many friends up here and I loved the basketball life so I am ready to come back and work hard for more silverware!” said Zach.

“I am also a fully qualified teacher and I know at Sheffield they have a strong education programme so I can keep my hand in both areas of work.”
