The unseasonably hot weather is thanks to high pressure becoming established and encouraging a south-easterly airstream, drawing in warm air from the Continent.

This high pressure will mean a dry-ish weekend, hot in the sun, though it may feel close and muggy towards the weekend with a risk of thunderstorms.

It follows the coldest end to April in over 30 years, and a wash-out Bank Holiday for many, spring - or possibly summer - will arrive this weekend.
