Veterans will gather from 11.30am in Norfolk Row before the parade begins at 11.50am, taking in Norfolk Row, Fargate, Town Hall Square and the Peace Gardens, followed by a ceremony from 12pm, led by Coun Denise Fox, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield.

This year’s event forms part of the activities being held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme offensive which began on the 1 July 1916.

Councillor Tony Damms, Sheffield City Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “This day is all about paying tribute to those who serve our country and risk their lives to protect our freedom.

“Our annual Armed Forces and Veterans Day is a very popular event with people of all ages, and gives communities from Sheffield and beyond the chance to show their support for serving officers and veterans from all conflicts.
