A BUSINESSMAN was stunned to discover thieves broke in and stole tonnes of scrap metal and five vehicles from his Sheffield yard.

Fed-up Jason Mallows is offering a £10,000 reward for information to help catch the offenders.

The burglars plundered £16,000 of stock – including three vans and a pick-up truck – from JST Used Motor Spares in Effingham Road, Attercliffe, last Thursday night.

Another vehicle was later recovered on Bacon Lane.

Jason, whose car lot was targeted by arsonists earlier this year, said: “Somebody must have seen something, the amount of stuff that was stolen would have taken hours to get out of here.

“I locked up at 7pm and when I came back at 7am the next morning it was gone.

“Four tonnes of scrap metal was loaded into the vans. There isn’t much left.”

The thieves cut through a heavy chain to access the yard and damaged a customer’s car.

The scrap, which included tyres and wheels, was worth £10,000 and the cars were worth £6,000.

Jason. of Grenoside, said: “It was a shock to leave work full of cars then come back and find just one there, scrap metal gone and a customer’s car smashed up. The CCTV cameras were also tampered with – obviously this has been done by people who know what they are doing.”

Seven vehicles went up in flames at Jason’s car lot in Wincobank earlier this year.

A police spokesman said the raid was being treated as an ‘isolated incident’.

He appealed for anybody with information to call 101, quoting incident 176 of June 8.
