Sheffield schoolboy's bid for dancing sponsorship deal

A Sheffield schoolboy is looking for sponsorship to help him pursue his life long dream of becoming a dancer.

Ashton Coe is a typical 12-year-old boy, but he has an exceptional talent. He is a dancer, and has already bagged himself a scholarship with Pineapple Dance studios in London.

Dancing runs through his veins said his mum Megan Williams.

She added: "He started to show an interest in dancing from a young age, when he was four years old he would take him self to his room to practice his Michael Jackson moves, before we knew it he had all his routines down to a tee."

The student from Outwood Academy City already has a string of achievements under his belt. Having only been competing for six years he was chosen by Justin Bieber to perform on stage with him on his Purpose Tour in Sheffield, performed at Wembley Stadium as a soloist, the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican Theatre for Barnardo's:

It was his performance with Justin Bieber which gained him an audition for Pineapple Performing Arts School, where he then was offered a scholarship last April.

When not at school, Ashton spends every minute training.

On Sundays he travels from his Manor Top home to the studios in London, while other nights he splits his training between Dronfield and Leeds.

He also dances with a crew named Youth at Pineapple or Y@P, a group of seven children who get together and choreograph their own routines.

Megan, a finance officer, said: "We currently travel to London every Sunday, and sometimes Saturdays, to attend Pineapple Performing Arts School where he has the scholarship."

The mother-of-three has funded the travel herself for just over a year, but with her partner also working full-time it just isn't enough.

She is now asking for help from a local company to sponsor Ashton in his bid to pursue the career of his dreams.

She added: "The reason we need a sponsor is to help with the cost of the travel for us so he can continue his dance journey. I work full time just to cover these costs but it’s just not enough. Ashton lives for dance and this scholarship means the world to him. He would love to continue with it."

"Ashton would wear the sponsors name on his clothing when attending all events," Megan added.

"The events are not only in Sheffield and London but he also performs in Dronfield, Chesterfield, Glasgow - anywhere in the UK basically! Some of these events have a footfall of anything between 5 to 10,000 people."
