A Sheffield schoolboy is still fighting for life after he was hit by a car as he crossed a road.

Hakeem Pickering-Smith, aged 15, is in an induced coma as medics battle to relieve the pressure on his brain.

The Forge Valley School pupil was hit by a gold Fiat Punto on Catch Bar Lane, Hillsborough, on Sunday night.

He suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, which happened close to the junction with Leppings Lane at 9.30pm.

A police probe into the collision is underway.

An online fundraising page has been launched by a family friend to help with finances while Hakeem remains in hospital.

Over £300 has been donated so far to help cover parking, food and drink costs at hospital and time off work for Hakeem's parents.

Visit to donate.

Anyone with information about the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
