A Sheffield schoolboy is still fighting for life after he was hit by a car as he crossed a road.

Hakeem Pickering-Smith, aged 15, is in an induced coma as medics battle to relieve the pressure on his brain.

The Forge Valley School pupil was hit by a gold Fiat Punto on Catch Bar Lane, Hillsborough, on Sunday night.

He suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, which happened close to the junction with Leppings Lane at 9.30pm.

A police probe into the collision is underway.

An online fundraising page has been launched by a family friend to help with finances while Hakeem remains in hospital.

Over £300 has been donated so far to help cover parking, food and drink costs at hospital and time off work for Hakeem's parents.
