Sheffield school went into 'lockdown' after report of boy being chased

A Sheffield school went into ‘lockdown’ this afternoon, after a boy was reportedly chased by a group of other boys.

A text was sent to parents of pupils at Tinsley Meadows Primary Academy at 5.24pm today (December 5).

It stated: “Urgent notice. Please do not arrive to contact your child until we have contacted you.

“The school is currently on lockdown. To reassure you all children are safe and well and staff are supervising and ensuring the welfare of your children.”

The school confirmed that a lockdown had taken place, but that children were leaving at around 5.40pm.

A local resident said that a boy who was being chased by a group of other boys ran into the school to ask for help.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
