Sheffield school to re-open after bomb scare
A Sheffield school is to re-open today after a bomb scare.
Birley Academy was evacuated yesterday morning following a bomb scare.
Students were sent home and a full search of the school and grounds in Birley Lane, Birley, was carried out by South Yorkshire Police.
No device was found and the incident was declared a hoax.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested yesterday on suspicion of making the bomb threat.
It has not yet been revealed whether he has been charged.
Chief Superintendent Natalie Shaw, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "Hoax calls are malicious and irresponsible, they can cause a considerable deal of distress.
"Anyone found to have committed this offence could face a prison sentence."
