Meet Keller and Kobe Hardy: Sheffield’s pet shop boys.
These two brothers are not hitting the right notes with their electropop abilities - they have in fact opened their own pet and aquatic centre on Mowbray Street.
Keller, aged 23, said he and Kobe, aged 18, have dreamed of running their own pet shop for years. PandA (Pets and Aquatics) finally opened earlier this month.
He said: “We had to wait until Kobe turned 18 and it’s been very hard work putting together business plans, finding the right premises and getting funding.”
The brothers, of Shiregreen, have always had an interest in animals and fish.
Keller is a regular at aquatic society shows and has been the grand champion at the Yorkshire Aquatic Society show for the last three years.
He saved up his money and has been to such countries as the Philippines and Uruguay to study and breed different species of fish.
Keller said he is not worried at all about going into business with his younger brother.
“We will probably get on better as business partners than as brothers!” he said.
“We’re both putting different ideas into the business rather than just one brain working on it.”
Some of the brothers’ more interesting creatures in stock include the Egyptian Mouthbrooder fish, which keeps its babies in its mouth, and a very cute Gansu hamster, which looks like a cross between a mouse and a normal hamster.
