Sheffield’s first micropub is set to open its doors this weekend.

The pub on Ecclesall Road -which can house around 40 customers - is expected to have its initial customers from noon on Sunday December 14.

It has taken over a former E-cigarette shop and is run by teacher John Harrison with Dronfield pub landlord Chris Sinclair.

The council was expected to give the final go-ahead on Wednesday.

Teacher John said: “We are very much excited, it has taken a long time to get to the point.

“We’ve got beers from local breweries, the wine is coming from Starmoreboss on Sharrowvale Road and we are stocking the Robin of Loxley gin so it is very Sheffield - as well as having some spirits that a lot of people won’t have heard of.”

Plans for the pub were approved in October, with residents both for and against the idea.

John added: “I think there will be big queues - people have asked if we will be full on the day!”
