Plans to install an all-weather pitch and new floodlights at the Sheffield Tigers rugby union ground have been recommended for approval.

The club wants to replace one of the grass training pitches at its ground on Dore Moor with synthetic turf.

It has also applied to replace four 10-metre-high floodlights around the pitch with six lighting columns, each 12 metres high.

The new lights will be ‘twice as bright’ as before, a report to a planning meeting on Tuesday says - but any harm to the Green Belt is considered to be outweighed by the benefits of improving the pitch.
