Plans for a new retail park on a large patch of empty land close to Crystal Peaks shopping centre in Sheffield are set to be given the go-ahead.
Councillors are recommended to approve proposals for an Aldi supermarket, a Costa Coffee shop and a Frankie and Benny’s restaurant between Drake House Crescent and Eckington Way.
Planning officers admitted the scheme will have an ‘adverse impact’ on traffic congestion, but added: “Even when taking into account the traffic from Asda, the cumulative impact will not be severe.”
They added: “The site is reasonably sustainably located and there is the potential for linked trips with adjacent developments. The scheme will deliver economic development, local jobs and will regenerate an under-used site.”
The plans will be discussed at a committee meeting on Tuesday.
