Sheffield restaurant gives out 500 free churros in return for selfies

Hundreds of free churros doughnuts will be handed out by a Sheffield restaurant - in return for customer selfies.

Tapas Revolution, which opened in Meadowhall shopping centre last month and has a special churreria, is giving out the 500 hot doughnut sticks with chocolate dipping sauce to customers to celebrate the launch of its new loyalty card between Monday April 18 and Sunday April 24.

To claim a free churros customers must follow @tapasrevolution on Twitter and take a selfie with the #FREECHURROS sign.

A spokesman for the restaurant, which is the brand of celebrity Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy, said: “In Spain you’ll find a ‘Churreria’ in every town, where these hot, crisp, doughnut sticks are served with rich hot chocolate. Spanish Chef Omar Allibhoy is hoping to bring a taste of Spain to Sheffield and recreate his favourite churro bars with his new Churreria.

“Tapas Revolution’s churros are tossed in cinnamon and sugar and served with a hot, thick dipping chocolate for £3.50. For churro lovers the new loyalty card will allow diners to claim a free portion of churros on their seventh visit.”

In Spain churros are often enjoyed for breakfast or an afternoon snack. There, churros are traditionally sold at ‘churrerias’, and by street vendors, who fry them to order and serve them hot.

The 500 churros giveaway will be from Monday 18th to Sunday 24th April at Tapas Revolution and will operate on a first come first served basis.

Guest must follow @tapasrevolution and Tweet a picture of themselves holding the churros sign.
