Sheffield residents urged to join in clean-up

RESIDENTS in a Sheffield suburb are being urged to join a week-long tidy-up of their community.

The Clean Up Week, organised by the Darnall Forum, takes place in Darnall from Monday.

Sylvia Hamilton, chairman, said: “We want to encourage residents to tidy up outside their homes and businesses, but anyone can come and help.

“I think it is really important that we do this.”

The forum will be working alongside other organisations, including the Friends of High Hazels Park, to tidy the area, with gardening and organised litter picks.

The groups are also hoping to identify fly-tipping hot spots – and combat them within the week.

On Wednesday – when participants will be cutting back shrubs and litter picking – food will be laid on in the High Hazels Park ranger hut to thank people for their hard work and support.
