Residents from Brunswick Gardens retirement village in Woodhouse, Sheffield, took part in an unusual relay - to raise awareness of heart health.

They donned red and welcomed visitors from Lark Hill Retirement Village in Nottingham as part of the Passion for Life Heart Relay.

Brunswick Gardens is one of 31 ExtraCare Charitable Trust retirement complexes and every village took part.

Residents passed a ‘heart chain’ made up of metal hearts linked together from village to village and each link was engraved with the name of the complex.

Julie Hall was nominated as Brunswick’s Queen of Hearts and received the chain from residents of Lark Hill at a buffet.
