Sheffield Railway Station set to be lit up as part of festival

For the eighth year running, the popular hospice fundraiser will include a 25ft Christmas tree on the railway station’s main concourse.

And this year, councillor Denise Fox, lord mayor of Sheffield, will be performing the official switch on at 5.30pm.

The celebrations will also include music from the University of Sheffield’s gospel choir and a show stopping appearance by the spectacular Fireteam Prime performers.

The event is part of the wider Festival of Light celebration, which will be held at the hospice on Sunday, December 4, from 5pm to 7pm.

Visitors will see the hospice gardens in Little Common Lane transformed by thousands of bright lights all dedicated to the memory of loved ones, which then shine out all the way through the Christmas period.

The event is being hosted by BBC Radio Sheffield presenter and St Luke’s supporter Paulette Edwards, with music from the Sheffield Harmony Choir and Oughtibridge Brass Band. Complementary glasses of mulled wine and mince pies will be available on arrival. There will also be a hog host provided by Heatherhill Farm Meats.
