Pupils from a Sheffield school managed to collect more coins for the Philippines than there are islands - raising £682 for the typhoon disaster relief fund.

Youngsters from Sheffield High Junior school collected 12,820 coins, beating their target of 7,000, the number of islands.

Each pupil sought to bring in 30 coins, with values ranging from 1p to £2, in order to respond quickly to the urgency of the situation.
