Sheffield pub closes its doors early after drinkers flout social distancing rules

A Sheffield pub has warned customers it will be forced to shut unless customers follow social distancing rules after closing early last night.

The Cock Inn in Oughtbridge has issued the warning after problems at the pub last night.

A Facebook post said: “If social distancing is not adhered to the pub will shut. We closed early last night.

“Today, including our beer garden, we will be taking orders at your table the old fashioned way with paper and pen.

“Anyone not sat at a table or sitting in a bigger party than six will not be served.

“If we want pubs to be open remember things are still not normal.

“A massive thank you to those customers who supported us and followed procedure and for your understanding as we closed early.”

South Yorkshire Police has confirmed that no pubs in the city were asked to close early by officers yesterday.
