Sheffield pet shops have licences renewed after fish fears

Two pet shops in Sheffield have had their licences renewed after concerns were raised about how soon they sold fish.

Pets at Home stores in Heeley and Drakehouse retail parks were the subject of a Sheffield Council licensing committee after officers found they had sold fish hours after delivery instead of between 24-48 hours in isolation.

A spokesman said: “The committee recognised all Pets at Home stores operate with clear, specific procedures developed in conjunction with experts and are based on the same independent guidelines that used around the UK. “This ensures fish are not released for sale until they show normal behaviour.”
