Doris Wilcock, from Basegreen, recently met with Tyler and Amelia Exelby, who thought they had found some lost treasure when they came across the items in woodland.

Doris told the children: “You are my heroes.”

South Yorkshire Police returned some of the items after the children found them under a blue tarpaulin.

The items, which were mostly of sentimental value, were stolen from Doris’ home three years ago and included a watch and a purse.

Doris and the children went to the area of the woodland where the items were found.

A police spokesman said Tyler and Amelia will be given certificates commending them for their actions and honesty.
