Sheffield Parkway closed due to serious crash

A serious crash has closed Sheffield Parkway, police have announced.

The road out of Sheffield is closed between Park Square and Derek Dooley Way due to a serious road traffic collision, South Yorkshire Police has said.

@SheffieldCentralLPT said: “ROAD CLOSED - Parkway, #Sheffield out of city from Park Sq to Derek Dooley Way for Serious RTC.”

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that a ‘two vehicle collision’ on the Parkway coming out of the city has caused them to close this stretch of road ‘for the time being’.

This is all police are revealing at present.

Eyewitnesses described seeing a car flipped onto its roof.

Gareth Taylor said: “I have just passed there. Parkway down to town is blocked. Prince Of Wales road turn off is closed.

“Coming out of town is blocked. Fire brigade and ambulance and police on scene. Over turned car and another car. Looks like it will be shut off most of night.”

Jon Bell added: “Just driven past myself at least 3 cars involved,as it says in post below one overturned on its roof,really bad impact hope everyone is ok..”
