Coun Bryan Lodge, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Sheffield Parkway is one of the busiest routes into the city and is used by more than 50,000 vehicles every day. Resurfacing this road will cause some disruption but the end result will mean that we have a much smoother route into the city.”

Graeme Symonds, Amey’s core investment programme director, said: “To minimise disruption to the city’s commuters, residents, businesses and visitors, the timing of the upgrade works has been co-ordinated to take place during the night. We appreciate their patience and support whilst work is being carried out on such a busy route. We would remind motorists to take care to observe road closures and diversions if they plan to travel during the hours that we’re working. All lanes will reopen in time for commuters to make their journey to work in the morning.”

The work forms part of the wider Streets Ahead highway scheme to upgrade the condition of Sheffield’s roads, pavements and streetscene.
