Sheffield Park Hill residents celebrate Christmas with party

Residents and businesses at an iconic Sheffield landmark have celebrated Christmas - with a huge party.

Property developer Urban Splash has been involved in the development of Park Hill flats since 2004 and marked a year of huge change for the project with a Christmas party for its new and growing community.

As well as residents and businesses that are based there, members of the local group Friends of Sheaf Valley Park joined in the fun that included plenty of mulled wine, Thornbridge I Love You, Will You Marry Me Beer and of course mince pies.

Local band Lofter provided the entertainment and there was a raffle raising £300 for Sheffield’s Children Hospital.

Simon Gawthorpe, managing director of Urban Splash, said; “It was such a great night and it was good to see so many people join in.

“It felt like a culmination of all that we have been working towards as well as the start of a community that does things together.

“We shall be hosting and taking part in more events like these in the future.”

Raymond Kinsella, regional manager for Great Places Housing Group who manage the refurbished apartments, said: “I think people made new friends.

“Neighbours had the chance to get to know each other better and mixed groups from the area chatted away.

“What was really evident was that people really enjoy living here and really are part of something special.”
