Sheffield OAP named after fatal mobility scooter collision

A pensioner who died when she was struck by a car as she used her mobility scooter in Sheffield has been named.

Elizabeth Whitehead, aged 77, was attempting to cross Broad Lane on a pelican crossing when she was involved in a collision with a red Mazda RX8.

Police said the car was travelling towards the Brook Hill roundabout at the time of the collision - 2.20pm on Wednesday, October 16.

The Mazda driver escaped the collision unharmed.

Mrs Whitehead’s funeral is to take place at St Vincent Church, Crookes, at 11am on Monday, October 28 followed by followed by cremation at Hutcliffe Wood.

Police are investigating.
