Cars destroyed in spate of attacks
ARSONISTS are believed to be responsible for a spate of car fires.
A Citroen Xsara Picasso was set alight in an arson attack on Blackstock Road, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, at 4.15am on Sunday. Other fires involved a Daihatsu Fourtrak on Thoresby Avenue, Monk Bretton, on Saturday; a Mercedes on Pitt Street, Wombwell, on Sunday; a Mini near the Strines Inn, Strines, at 2.20am on Sunday; and a Vauxhall Corsa on Neepsend Lane, Shalesmoor.
The cause of a fire which destroyed an Audi A5 car on Fircroft Avenue, Shiregreen, on Friday evening, is being investigated by police.
Woman flees fire
A WOMAN escaped from her home on Upper Wortley Road, Thorpe Hesley, after a fire started in her porch at 9.50pm on Sunday.
FIREFIGHTERS dealt with chimney fires on Ballfield Lane, Kexbrough; High Street, Penistone and Cross Hill, Ecclesfield, over the weekend.
A SHED was destroyed after a bonfire burned out of control on Saturday night on Lime Tree Avenue, Killamarsh.
