Sheffield named in top ten of Britain's best places for nightlife

Sheffield has been named as one of the top ten places in Britain for a cheap night out, according to a new study.

Researchers studied the price of beer and wine in cities across the UK – and Sheffield was named as the sixth cheapest place in the country for drinks.

The study found that the average cost of a beer and wine in the city was £7.46.

Sheffield is one of the cheapest places in the country for a night out

A spokesman for survey compilers Compare My Mobile said: “It’s not just the centre of London or Liverpool that boast a booming nightlife.

“People in Sheffield who enjoy a night out are likely to enjoy it even more now it’s been revealed as one of the cheapest cities in the UK for a night out.”

They added: “A long week at work sees many employees heading to their local pub or bar to unwind with a pint or a glass of wine.

“With bars and nightlife being a popular socialising scenario, Compare My Mobile has revealed the top 10 places up and down the UK for the cheapest and most expensive nights out.”

The study looked at cities across the UK and by comparing the average amount you’d be paying for a round of beer and wine in your local, placed Sheffield in the top 10 cheapest.
