A £5,000 reward has been offered in the hunt for the killer of a murdered Sheffield dad.

Crimestoppers has offered the cash in return for information leading to the conviction of Simon Holdsworth’s killer.

Paint sprayer Mr Holdsworth, aged 36, was found dead on Tuesday, December 17, off Birley Spa Lane in Hackenthorpe, Sheffield, near Rainbow Forge Primary and the Hogs Head pub.

He left work in Intake, Sheffield, at about 10.55pm on Monday, December 16, before boarding a number 120 First Bus about five minutes later near the Noah’s Ark pub in Mansfield Road, but never made it home.

His body was found on a field the next morning by a member of the public.

Mr Holdsworth had been due to marry his fiance Carleen McKeown and he was dad to her four-year-old son Tiarnan.

A post-mortem found that he died from severe head injuries.

South Yorkshire Police have launched a murder hunt but have so far failed to make any arrests in connection with the killing.

Gemma Wilson, Crimestoppers’ regional manager for Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “This is a heartbreaking time for the family of Simon, who has been taken away from them too soon.

“A son has had his dad taken away and a fiancé her future husband, while family and friends search for answers as to why?

“Crimestoppers would urge anyone with information to contact the charity anonymously, safe in the knowledge that no one will ever know you contacted us.”
