The woman posted on Facebook that her son was walking from the high school on Eckington Road when a man began to follow him.

She said that as her son got close to the Gypsy Queen Pub on Drake House Lane, in Beighton, the man then approached him.

The man reportedly came up to her son and tried to get him to go with him, saying he had "something to show him".

Thankfully, the mother said that her son refused and was able to run home before issuing a warning to other parents.

The incident has been reported to South Yorkshire Police.

This is the second attempted abduction reported on Drake House Lane in as many months.

In February, a 15-year-old girl was walking home from school when a black man in a dark coloured Audi approached her, wound down the window and shouted: "Get in the car!".

The horrified youngster managed to escape unharmed.
