A furious Sheffield mum claims months of failed street repairs have left sewage flowing into her home.
Tina Hector, aged 50, said the problem began in the beginning of December and has still not been solved – despite repeated attempts to fix the issue by Yorkshire Water.
Tina, of Alport Grove, Frecheville, said sewage has flowed into her garage and ruined her possessions stored there.
She said she was told by Yorkshire Water to claim for the damage on her home insurance.
And during cold winter nights, the leaking sewage, leaving Tina’s front drive ‘looking like an ice rink’.
She said the problems began a few months after the street was resurfaced, covering a manhole in the road.
Tina said workers found the cause of the problems – a cracked pipe – when they uncovered the utility hole and placed a camera down the drain.
Although it was originally planned for repairs to take place on Monday, March 9, they did not take place until more than a week later.
However, the work has failed to stop the problem and sewage has continued seeping onto Tina’s property – more than three months since it first happened.
Tina said: “There’s black sewage just coming through.
“It’s just not been done properly. Basically, it’s just a waiting game now.”
Yorkshire Water said it ‘regretted’ the problem.
A spokesman for the water firm said: “We regret a resident has experience these problems and can understand the inconvenience this has caused. Our contractors are investigating the issue and hope to identify and fix the problem as soon as possible.”
