A Sheffield mum-of-four turned business entrepreneur popped the champagne cork on her new premises with a VIP evening.

Rachel Burgin, aged 32, from Deepcar, invited businesses from across the city to the open evening for Routes Hair after her hair extensions firm took off and went international.

After running the firm from home using her experience as a hairdresser she started getting online orders from as far and wide as Canada, Switzerland and Italy.

Ms Burgin then found a premises opposite her home in Wortley Road and opened up a store and held a glitzy event, inviting salons and other independent traders.

They included Simon Gabbitas from The Little Shop of Chocs, pictured with Rachel.

She said: “It went really well and it was good to get the word out because Deepcar isn’t that well known for business, so we’re a bit of a hidden gem.

“Probably one of the biggest challenges has been trying to run a full-time business with four young kids.”
