Louise Haigh said youngsters should be taught in schools.

She told MPs that fake profiles could be used to 'exploit and groom children' and said better age checks need to be carried out on users.

During a Westminster debate on preventing online child abuse, she said: "What I'd really like that training to include is the very specific issue of online dating and particularly dating apps.

"This issue was raised with me by a Sheffield teacher recently who teaches at a special education needs school and has been concerned about young girls using apps such as Tinder and Happn to look for older men.

"The concerns around this are very obvious - either older men deliberately looking for young girls or young girls pretending to be older than they are to get older boyfriends."
