A major road in Sheffield was closed this morning with a number of drivers left stranded in the snow.
The A616 near High Green was closed in both directions between the A628 and the A6102 at around 8.50am.
Crews were working at the scene to clear the snow but Highways England stressed that conditions were still difficult.
Sheffield student Tasha Jagger said she had been stranded on the road for almost an hour with cars 'piling up and getting stuck'.
She said that the road was still dangerous with ice underneath the snow.
"There must have been about ten cars packed up and one lorry when we were stuck. Everyone was just skidding," she said.
The road has now reopened in both directions after weather conditions improved, Highways England confirmed.
A number of bus services are still suspended across Sheffield with just four of Stagecoach's services still running.
Service 7 - running from Halifax Road to Manor Top
Service 25 - serving Lowedges to Woodhouse
Service 52 - Running from Woodhouse Mill to Broom Hill
Service 120 - running Ranmoor to Manor top only
All other services currently suspended
