A saucy nude calendar has raised Â£1,600 for a Sheffield woman in a bid to help save her life.

Blaire Webb, aged 27, from Hillsborough, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was 18 months old and now needs urgent treatment, which is only available abroad.

Her mother, Kerry, is a suitable match for the stem cell treatment – which would regenerate Blaire’s lungs – but the family first needs to raise some £50,000.

The genetic disorder causes an over-production of mucus, blocking the pancreatic ducts, intestines and bronchi, causing respiratory infections.

Blaire’s health is deteriorating rapidly and the treatment – which is only offered in the Dominican Republic – should help to improve her daily life. In order to get the best chance of extending her life, she needs the treatment as soon as possible.

Explaining her day-to-day life, Blaire said: “It’s not easy. A normal person can go out to work, go shopping and then go out for the night. I can only do one of those things. Even doing one makes me shattered.

“I only have to walk 10 metres on a bad day and I have to stop to catch my breath. It’s a nightmare but I deal with it. The treatment would give me more energy and make life easier.”

Local companies, family and friends of Blaire have rallied around to pose for the nude calendar, which she says is more popular than she ever expected.

The ‘models’ got their kit off and posed in various locations, with props strategically placed to cover their modesty.

Blaire said: “We have had a right laugh doing it. We sold more than we expected to, and we had to get more printed.”

Brave Blaire was shocked when so many were willing to help her by posing nude.

Powers PTI gym, on Deer Park Road in Stannington, Wabtec Rail Ltd, a railroad equipment supplier, and Sheffield Bouncy Castle Hire all helped create and distribute the charity calendar.

The idea was dreamed up by Blaire and a group of her friends who – alongside her partner Andy, her dad, Andy Hewitt, and mum, Kerry – are incredibly supportive.

Her partner and dad posed alongside the other naked male models for the calendar. Last year, a fundraising page was set up for Blaire, but the £50,000 target is still a long way off.

Blaire said: “We have got about £15,000 – we are nowhere near where we need to be. But the plea only began in November, so it’s pretty good. We would like the money as soon as possible, so I can be treated before 2017.”

The Sheffield community is working really hard to raise money for Blaire through events and gigs.

Wisewood Sports Centre, on Laird Road, is to host a charity dodgeball tournament on January 24 and Doncaster band Rita Payne will play the Rose and Crown, known locally as Minnie’s, on January 23.
