Sheffield marks start of 2021 with spectacular firework display lighting up the sky

On a New Year’s Eve like no other, revellers were forced to swap bars and pubs for their own homes with Sheffield under Tier 3 lockdown restrictions.

But this didn’t stop people in Sheffield marking the start of a new year in truly remarkable fashion.

As the clock struck midnight on a year many of us would wish to forget, a huge display of fireworks lit up the sky above Sheffield.

One video, taken in Park Hill flats, showed the firework display in all its glory with magnificent shows being put on from every corner of the city.

Photos uploaded to Twitter showed people in Meersbrook Park enjoying the huge firework display.
