Sheffield man found dead with several face and body injuries

An investigation has been launched into the 'unexplained' death of a 46-year-old Sheffield man, who was found dead at his home.

Clifford Cockayne was found dead at his flat in Pitsmoor Road on Thursday, April 21 . Mr Cockayne, 46, was discovered with several injuries to his face and body.

A forensic post mortem examination carried out following his death proved inconclusive, but showed his injuries were not the cause of death.

An investigation into his death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, remains ongoing.

Officers are now appealing for information about Clifford’s movements in the days leading up to his death.

Detective Sergeant Anna Sedgwick, the investigating officer, said: “We are keen to understand how Clifford sustained these injuries and I would like to appeal to anyone who saw or spoke to him in the days leading up to his death to come forward.

“We know that he was a regular visitor to several shops in the Pitsmoor area and we need to hear from anyone who can help us piece together his movements.”
