Sheffield man chagred with a string of offences

A man has been charged with a string of offences following a reported vehicle theft and subsequent collision in Sheffield earlier this week.

Lee Stephen Fletcher, 39, of Stradbroke Road, Sheffield, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ today charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of burglary, aggravated taking without owner’s consent and related driving offences, including driving with no insurance and no license.

He was remanded into custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on November 19.

Police arrested Fletcher after being called out to reports of a theft of a silver van from a car park in Abbeydale Road South at 11.25am on Monday.

Two hours later the van was involved in a collision with a bus and a police vehicle in Stradbroke Road, near to the junction with Richmond Road.
