Police have arrested a man on suspicion of grooming after claims in an online video that he targeted a man posing as a 14-year-old girl in Sheffield.
He was arrested after the film was posted online by vigilante ‘Paedophile Hunter’ and film maker Stinson Hunter.
Mr Hunter claimed he had posed as a 14-year-old girl to have a text conversation with the man who asked him for sex.
But the man’s mother claims he has a mental age of a child aged between seven and eleven and was the victim of ‘entrapment’.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are aware of claims made on social media relating to a Sheffield man and alleged grooming offences.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grooming and bailed pending further enquiries.”
“We are aware of a number of comments on social media that identify this individual and would advise the public that vigilante action will not be tolerated and any incidents of criminality reported to us will be investigated.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
