A man aged 42 from Sheffield was among 10 men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder following a series of early morning raids by Lancashire Police.

He was arrested in Sheffield after a violent street clash in Blackburn last December, when a gun was fired.

Terrified residents described hearing the shot and seeing a large gang of men, some with scarves over their faces, chasing each other in vehicles.

Police arrested the Sheffield man along with four men from Blackburn and five from Preston.

All 10 remain in police custody.

Det Insp Mark Vaughton, from Blackburn CID, said: “This was on a public residential street, instilling fear in the local residents. I am thankful no-one was hurt.”
