Candidates standing for Sheffield Council seats in the local election have been invited to take part in a mass bike ride.

Cycle Sheffield has written to all 167 people standing for election as a local councillor on May 7 and urged them to join the Space for Cycling Big Ride on April 25, as well as pledging to make Sheffield a city where riding a bike is safe and enjoyable.

Matt Turner, chairman, said: “We need candidates to think about walking and cycling as crucial to the design of urban spaces.”
