A mum whose daughter broke most of her bones in a horrifying hit-and-run on a Sheffield pedestrian crossing says she cheated death – because of her talents as a former champion gymnast.

Sarah Cameron was just yards from her flat on Ecclesall Road, returning home following a 21st birthday celebration, when two speeding cars ignored the red traffic lights and overtook waiting vehicles.

One of the cars ploughed into her, hitting Sarah on the front passenger side and carrying her 20 metres before she rolled off the bonnet, skilfully tucking herself into a ball.

Sarah’s mum Rachael, 48, said the culprits were ‘two crazy boy racers’, adding: “They’re a menace and they need to get off the road before they kill somebody.”
