This comes just hours after Britain's high streets were dealt another blow when retailer BHS announced it was going to into administration.

Reports emerging this morning suggest Austin Reed, which has 155 stores and employs around 1,000 people nationwide, is set to appoint AlixPartners as administration after being unable to find a buyer.

The struggling retailer closed around 31 stores last year.

It is currently controlled by Alteri Investors, which specialises in working with troubled retailers.

Austin Reed has been trading for more than a century and famous customers in its heyday included Sir Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor.
