Sheffield to honour war dead on Remembrance Sunday
Sheffield Lord Mayor Coun Denise Fox will lead a procession leaving from the City Hall, opposite the memorial, at 10.50am tomorrow.
The public can attend and show their respect for those who have served in conflicts across the globe.

Hide AdCaptain REJ Crothers, of the 212 (Yorkshire) Field Hospital, will begin the ceremony by reading the Exhortation, before a service conducted by the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain.
Servicemen and women, along with veterans, will then join the city’s Lord Mayor, Deputy Lord Lieutenant and Master Cutler, among others, in laying wreaths on the war memorial.
Members of the public will also be invited to lay floral tributes once the parade has marched past the statue.
The ceremony follows a year of reflection in the city, which lost 4,898 members of Sheffield City Battalion during the First World War.

Hide AdSheffielders marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme in July.
And there was also a moving ceremony in the city centre for home-grown hero Major William Allen, who was awarded the UK’s highest military honour the Victoria Cross for his valour during the conflict.
Coun Fox said: “Of course, the heroism of the people of Sheffield, the city’s grandfathers and great-grandfathers, in that terrible conflict 100 years ago have been on the city’s mind more than ever this year.
“I’m proud to have played a leading role in commemorations both in Sheffield and France this year.

Barnsley, Friday, November 11: Barnsley Mayor Councillor Linda Burgess will lead a two-minute silence beside the war memorial in front of the town hall at 11am.
Crystal Peaks shopping centre, Friday: Parade from 10.30am followed by the Last Post and a two-minute silence at 11am.
Rotherham, Friday: Act of Remembrance in All Saints’ Square at 11am.

Hide AdBarnsley, Sunday: Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial, in front of the town hall, at 11am.
Eckington and Killamarsh, Sunday: The 2,000 Eckington Squadron will be on parade from Fanshawe Road, Eckington, at 9am, and from Sheepcote Road, Killamarsh, at 2pm.
Rotherham, Sunday: A parade will leave Effingham Street at 9.15am for Rotherham Minster, where a church service will be held at 9.45am.
There will then be a wreath-laying ceremony and two-minute silence at 11am at the Rotherham Cenotaph in Clifton Park.
