Siobhan Nicholson, Amanda Moon and Sophie Cooke, all Sheffield-based miliners, have set up The Hat Stand, a pop-up shop displaying their wares in the Winter Garden.

Milinery is not practised by many, but the women believe that combining their expertise for the month of June will benefit them all. It is the third year they have set up The Hat Stand.

Sophie, who runs Imogen’s Imagination, said: “Milinery is a reviving art. It’s very difficult to get into as a profession because there are very limited training opportunities.

“The equipment hasn’t changed much but what has changed is the materials used.

“There has been a revival in interest and crafstmanship, and how things are made.

And Siobhan, who runs Siobhan Nicholsen Milinery, said: “People do want to see how things are made.”
