Sheffield gym re-opens after multi-million pound re-vamp

The multi-million pound gym in Sheffield's Ponds Forge sports centre has been officially opened.

Deputy Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun Denise Fox; the longest serving Fitness Unlimited member, 85-year-old Lydia Turner and Special Olympians Niall Guite and Alexander Thompson were among those at the event.

Steve Brailey, chief executive of Sheffield International Venues, which operates Ponds Forge, said: “We are delighted to officially open the doors to the newly refurbished gym with this special event, which will give the people of Sheffield access to state-of-the-art facilities to help improve their health and fitness.

“It is our main goal as an organisation to get more people more active, more often, and we are committed to making our venues accessible for all.”
